Hi! I’m a 17 year old and I’m really questioning gender at the moment, I was wondering if you could tell me about your views on what gender is and what being a women is as a trans woman (I ask because to have transitioned -very beautifully-  you must have been very sure about your gender as a women, most cisgirls I know in real life don’t seem to be able to articulate what womanhood means to them beyond the biology of it.) Really appreciate any time you take reading/answering this thank you <3

For me, 3 weeks after I was able to start hormone therapy my crippling gender dysphoria was nearly gone. That cemented in my mind what I needed to do. I was never going back. Since then, I have not “tried to be my idea of a what a woman is”.. instead I just stayed on HRT and continued facial hair removal. Everything since then.. my sense of style,  makeup skills,  sense of self.. has evolved. I openly identify as a transgender woman when I meet people. So.. I do not try to fit in to anyone’s pre-conceived notions of what a woman is.  I just focus on being me.. and that person happens to come close to our societies view of what a woman is.

Thank you this is really helpful and refreshing to hear!

My advice would be to just focus on being yourself.. that in turn helps you love yourself.. which in turn helps other people to learn to love you.

May I share this conversation on my blog? It may be helpful to others
