You would not know it from these pictures, but I’m still quite sick. The mornings are filled with coughing fits and it is difficult to sleep at night. During the day I feel okay though and the coughing subsides. I was able to get my hair styled by a friend at my favorite salon this weekend. It was a complimentary style for my birthday (it was the 18th). I love it! I have been sick most of the week. Rather than a nice extended vacation after my Vegas trip, I have been taking care of both of my kids and myself and sleeping as much as I can (all of us got sick). I also had to take my car in for emergency repairs yesterday. I had a brake hose fail and a stuck caliper which was locking up my front brakes that I had just paid to replace before my vacation 😥. The front left side brake pads completely melted! At least that part was under warranty but it still cost a ton to fix the rest. All together.. this has been a sucky week! I wish I could go back to the moment depicted in this photo. I was at a table at the Rock House surrounded by friends and celebrating 3 birthdays (one of which was my own). Regardless, I am finally feeling a little better and it is summer here finally. Just after flying home Monday, I was exposed to a nose and throat infection that is going around and my weakened immune system after traveling was beaten by it 😥 I should be getting a prescription later today to battle it. I have noticed in some comments and even mentions in posts on Insta from other people that there may be questions as to how we all were included in this trip. Let’s talk about how this group formed and what the transvengers hashtag that Mika made so popular is all about. 
We’re like any other group of friends that came together organically. I can only tell you from my perspective as to how the group unfolded. I interacted with @suddenlysamantha and @mikaelaville first. We connected over the fact that we three are #transparents. In a very short time, we were offering support to one another and also just chatted about things friends chat about. Sam and I became Facebook friends and eventually she also asked to interview me on one of her Instagram Live sessions. Mika and I conversed mostly through Instagram but then were also texting and joking around with each other a lot on other media. Mika often would stop by on my twitch streams and harass me and try to make me blush on camera😊 The other instagrammers in the group (@thecaseyblake and @itsemily247) became friends with either Mika or Sam and again over time got to know each other enough to want to get together. We’re not some exclusive club that was invited to Vegas based on some sort of ranking. We are a group of friends that found connections and support and those connections spilled into further connections until we all now consider each other friends. How else do you think we were comfortable sharing hotel rooms with each other? I for one do not share hotel rooms with strangers. My point is, we became long distance friends over time and wanted to meet each other & the results were great. I consider all of these amazing women close friends now and they know I’ve got their back and I know I can count on them. 
I encourage all of you to start your own groups and once you feel comfortable  and want to meet face to face in some city anywhere on the globe, set it up! Mika has said many times that the #transvengers hashtag is for all trans people, not just transwomen. Have a gathering! Use the hastag for your posts! This is not an exclusive club! Love you all! My birthday is the 18th, but this past Friday I was able to celebrate it with a large group of friends. Moving to a new town where I knew no one during the early days of my transition was very difficult. After spending the first 5 months of that time building my confidence to venture out and make connections.. I declared 2016 to be the year of Ari. I began going to meetups to find people I could connect with. 3+ years later and I am able to fill a cidery bar with an amazingly beautiful variety of friends that I could only imagine the day I moved so long ago. Soooooo… I had the guts to do this.. happy birthday to me! My birthday is actually the 18th but last night was a party with a bunch of my friends. So I went for a new cut. (Party pics to be posted later today or in an insta story) It was time to keep my dyed hair more healthy, due to the long length I had I was experiencing some breakage and wanted a break from the maintenance for the summer. I also had been clipping it up lately at about the length I thought I wanted it. For a while, I tested this out both with it straightened and curly. This helped me to be sure I was ready for this cut. It is a stacked bob style and I am in love with the results! I went to the Aurora Pride parade today with some of my friends. My friend Colleen dressed as BatGirl and was stopped and asked for multiple pictures including one with the mayor, lol. This is only the second year Aurora has held a pride parade. It became the first city besides Chicago in Illinois to host one. There were only around half a dozen protestors I saw there and their idiotic signs were blocked by people with umbrellas and their voices were drowned out. All in all, it was a wonderful event.
